Do any current students have any information on this concentration at Brown?

What do you want to know? I know three people in this concentration right now.

What are research/internship opportunities in Providence like for public/international health?

It’s Brown, so I’m assuming the professors are fabulous… however, which ones are especially good and why?

Thank you.

I don’t know much down to the professor level but there are a considerable amount of opportunities to work in Providence. We have a large community of non-native speakers of English who are largely living in poverty and a lot of our community service programs run through the Swearer Center are about public health outreach. There are also some pretty substantial study abroad programs-- everyone I know who did public health studied abroad, mostly in the developing world. That seems to be a common (though far from the sole) interest of people doing CPH at Brown, health care and education in the developing world, and that’s certainly greatly strengthened by our development studies concentration.

I assume you’ve already looked through this page:
[Brown Program in Public Health](The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University)
[Department of Community Health at Brown University](http://bms.brown.edu/commhealth/)

but there’s some great information on there.

NRC ranks us 10th in epidemiology so that’s something to consider.

The 5 year AB/MPH is a nice option as well…

Ah THANK YOU!
For the information.
That sounds amazing.

I’ve always thought about being a doctor but when I realized there was a health career that combined sociology & biology I was hooked.
Yeah I’ve looked through that page and all the others lol :)

Thanks again, these are great things to look into when I fill out “Why Brown” ;)
