I have a question which regards my school's community service clubs.
My school's Key Club does community service every Saturday, usually involving volunteering at festivals/litter removal/etc.
I was wondering if these community service hours can be placed onto college admissions?
Do these hours help my chances of getting into a UC?

I really need to find out because applications to the club are due next Friday and I am wondering if it is worth my time to spend Saturdays doing community service instead of studying/working.

Due to the fact that working a job, any job, tends to require responsibility, focus and various other characteristics that are so good that someone will pay you -- is far more impressive to colleges than doing random community service in that has no responsibilities or screening process. If you basically just show up and do what you're told, and just sit around when no one tells you what to do, working a job would be a better activity.

CS is most impressive to colleges when it involves leadership, responsibility, organizing activities -- the type of things that happens when an assertive student consistently and voluntarily does CS at a place that they are genuinely interested in helping
