Commute or dorm opinions

A lot of opinions could be useful on this. I’m a college freshman dorming at a college within the 5 boroughs of NYC and live in Brooklyn. From my house to school is about 45 minute drive but there is also a branch campus of the school which is 15 minutes away from my house. Next school year, August 2020, I want to change campuses and just commute from home because I do not like dorming and want to save myself money. I believe I do not like dorming for the good reasons and that I did give it enough time since I will be dorming for an entire school year. I rather live home since I would be close to friends, I am not a big partier so I won’t be missing out on anything even though I can still go out living home. But most importantly I do not get the feeling that I like dorming. Most times I see people say they are glad to come home but can’t wait to go back to their schools and dorms. Every time I come home I am very happy but then when I go back to the dorms I miss home and cannot wait to go home again in 2 weeks. I get the opposite feelings of others. I think when I first applied to college I wanted to get away and experience something new but now that I did it i realized I do not like it. I technically would not be transferring just switching campuses and moving home.

Sorry for long read!

Why do you think you should like the dorm? Do your parents want you there instead of at home? Do they think it will make you grow up more or become more independent or something?

If your parents are happy to have you at home, and you’d rather be there, transfer to the other campus. It really, truly, is OK for you to do that.
