I have been accepted into bioresource engineering at McGill. Bioresource engineering is located at the Macdonald campus but I would really like to stay in Montreal. Is it logical/ worth it to commute back and fourth every day? I would have my car regardless because of ski racing but I do hear that the bus system is pretty good.

Hey DSF… it all depends what you are willing to do. I in fact was in the same position as you and chose to live downtown. I am a junior now and I don’t regret it one bit. I personally found the commute to be a non factor considering how reliable the bus system is. I read a lot of FAQ’s saying that it was really difficult to make it work but I never found that to be the case. You will have to be willing to put in the little extra effort but if you are like me and really want big city atmosphere it is definitely the right move.

Hey tbanks, I have just been accepted to a graduate program at the MacDonald campus and I am debating living downtown and commuting. When you commuted did you take the public bus system (the 221 and 211), the McGill shuttle, or the commuter train? and roughly how long was your commute everyday and how early did you have to leave home in order to make it to class?

Hi…This seems like an old post. But since you are a student of bioresource engineering at McGill, I would like to have your views about this program. Also, I heard about “grade deflation” at Mcgill- According to your experience, is this true? And should I attend McGill if I want to pursue my graduation from US in the future?
