Hey, I'm going to college next year with the goal of going into finance/banking. I am planning on majoring in math because I like it and enjoy it, but I'd also like to double major in something else. Obviously economics comes to mind for finance, but I'm also interested in computer science as well, esp since im looking towards the quant side of finance. Basically, it's going to come down to how much I enjoy their respective classes next year, but are there any recommendations as to which major I should lean toward?

Perhaps another option is to add minors or just take relevant courses in economics, finance, computer science, and/or statistics to add to your math major.

My advice for people considering double majoring: Don’t. It takes more time, costs more money, and there is no appreciable monetary gain from doing it (in terms of starting offer). If you want to get into finance, then going with Math is a good way to go. Take courses in finance, business, and economics. Also make sure to get some entry-level computer science courses in there (everyone needs to know how to program these days).

If you can easily pick up a minor, then do so, but don’t go out of your way to do it.
