Comparative Government Curve

Does anybody have the AP grading curve for Comparative Government/Politics? I have looked on all the recent curve boards and found nothing. If you have it, please make sure it is the new one since the free-response format was changed in 2006.

Any help is appreciated, thanks. (:

I need that too. Im OFFICIALLY going to have a heart attack over this exam monday. :/

lol, me too…i am planning to cram tomorrow afternoon…blah…

Good luck! I feel bad for some of the people in my class that have to take the Government and Comparative Government test back-to-back on Monday. Yikes!

I’m going to have to read my 2 study books over the weekend and try to cram for Calculus on Wednesday as well.

patriotically, which two study books do you have??
i have ethel woods, but do not have the answers to the multiple choice questions…which sucks…but i’m dealing with it…
plus, i hav the back to back gov’t tests…:(

I have the Ethel Woods one and I am borrowing my teacher’s REA Comparative Gov & US Gov (in one book) book.

Ouch! Since the teacher at my school for the 2 tests is the same person, she is asking the proctors to let those kids out early to cram in lunch and then rush to the next test.

oh really?? i was going to use the rea too, i hadn’t bought it yet…but i think i might just go to barnes and noble and study for a little…but i haven’t heard if it’s good or not.so that’s why i wasn’t sure if i should just focus on ethel woods…
yeah, last year when i took two on the same day…lunch was pretty stressful…welll, the whole day was kinda stressful…:)

I think its good, but I don’t like the format as much as the Ethel Woods one. The questions are the main reason I am borrowing it. Unlike the Ethel Woods one, the REA book explains why the answers are what they are and it gives example answers for the free-response (not just the points to cover, but the complete sentences and such).

Anamai, if you have the Ethel Woods book the answers to the multiple choice are included. Did you lose it? If not it should be secured to the inside of the very BACK cover. I know the test is Mon. but if you still can’t find it and do want it, I can scan the answer sheet and email it to you???

brantleysbest, i got a used copy so i guess it wasn’t included…but again, thank you so much !!!

I suggest anyone studying for Comp Gov and who has a facebook to search the facebook page/group “AP Comparative Government and Politics: What You Need to Know”. This facebook group is set up by an author of an excellent AP Comp Gov review guide of the same name, and he has really good advice, tips, and helpful hints for what will be on the test. And I believe this is what you’re looking for…

"Raw scores on the Comparative exam are abstract things since half the grade (60 points) is
based on 55 m-c questions and the other half (60 points) is based on 3 equally-weighted FRQ
sub-sections (1. the five identifications; 2. the 2 comparative questions; and 3. the conceptual analysis question).

In any case, the statisticians have offered this from the 2008 exam:
Scores of 72-120 (60%+) earned 5s
Scores of 57-71 (47.5%-59%) earned 4s
Scores of 43-56 (35.8%-47%) earned 3s
Scores of 26-42 earned 2s
Scores of 0-25 earned 1s"

hope that helps!!

^ omg 60%+ to get a 5? w00t.

Awesome, thanks. So we have the 5-4-3-2-1 breakdown. Does anybody have an idea of how they score it or how much to multiply the MC/FRQs by?

around how many multiple choice can be wrong to still get a 5

also i would think that the mc is just number correct - (.25 * wrong) * 1.5
cuz thats the u.s. gov’t one, and the mc is also 50%…but i could be wrong…

^ I’d like to know as well. I’ll also be doing some cramming tomorrow evening.

I’ve been studying since like 10am today. yawn Still not done with Iran. =/

haha…i have been studying all afternoon/night…
b/c tomorrow i hav to study for u.s. gov…all day!!!

Can someone help me on this review question:

Identify and describe the role of two political policy makers that influence environmental policy in Iran.

Identify and describe the role of two political policy makers that influence environmental policy in Iran.

The President and Ayatollah are the easiest answers I can think of. President - head of government, Ayatollah - head of state. or maybe the Majlis? They are the legislature.
