Compare/contrast OU and OSU Engineering

I'd be very interested to hear people's opinions about engineering (specifically electrical or computer) at OU and OSU. I'm asking for my son, a current HS junior.

Why would I look at one over the other? (We are out of state.)

Does it matter that OSU's engineering dept is significantly higher ranked than OU's?

How are engineering facilities and size of classes?

How about student life - which has better living arrangements?

Where are opportunities to be engaged in orchestra/theater tech higher?

Thanks for your thoughts.

1) Ohio University is a smaller school. This has many benefits including individual attention and easier course registration. Ohio University **enrolls only 350 students a year **into their Russ College of Eng. & Tech.

2) Ranking is a small factor when considering whether a school is a good fit for a student. No use going to the #1 school if the student won't be happy there, right?

3) Engineering facilities are strong at both schools.

4) Living arrangements are quite good at both schools, but remarkably cheapter at Ohio University because of it's less-urban location. Students at Ohio Univ. are required to live on campus for the first two years.

1.) At ohio university the engineering school is smaller and more students get the opportunity to work with professors in research.
2.) OSU may be higher ranked now, but you must remember that the OU school is relatively new and the school is dumping massive amounts of money into Russ.... If you want the midwest area and your concerned about rankings then purdue would be the obvious choice
3.) Engineering facilities are about the same at most decent schools and classes are smaller at OU
4.)OU has more of a community vibe b/c of the small town environ. The town is gorgeous and Columbus doesnt even compare in that area.
5.)... no clue.... but i know that ou has a good orchestra and an amazing visual communications school

Thanks everyone. Very helpful comments.
