Comparing Amherst and Columbia, ect

Hello,

I am considering applying to Amherst for the Spring 2016 cycle as well as Columbia Gs as well as Cornell and the sister colleges Smith and Wellesley.

I was previously enrolled at a LAC, where I prospered in the small environment, with the intimate professor and student accessibility. I truly enjoy such an atmosphere where once can pursue one’s interest.
But now I am 22 years old, a Founder and President of two small start ups, and a pursuant of journalism. I suppose I am looking to finish what I could not while upgrading in terms of academic excellence. But I fear I would be a fish out of water in a such a rural school, in terms of job prospects. In addition to, I don’t want my responsibility in thwart my social life ( ie other students are as ambitious as myself.) I plan to major in Political Science and Environmental Science, or design a major that molds my specific interests with Political Science.
Has anyone had had experiences with these schools that perhaps can compare? Or is anyone at Amherst who can provide an insight to your spectacular institution?
