Comparing offers- what happens with need based aid as college price goes up?

D is blessed to be accepted and receive need-based aid from Rice. What happens as the tuition goes up- does the need based aid go up? Rice does limit their student loans to 10K but I’m worried that our EFC would increase as tuition increases and possibly make it unaffordable.

She’s comparing this with Northeastern that’s offered her full-tuition. (We don't anticipate a significant change in our finances and there are no other children in college.) Thanks!

Schools like Rice keep their need based aid in line with their increased costs, but they do expect the kids to come up with a little more of the cost themselves each year. Talk to the financial aid office as to how they do this as it is specific to each school. Basically, the formulas are such that they increase the student’s contribution to the school.
