comparing sound recording programs

My son is receiving acceptances or is anticipating them for a number of sound recording technology programs (SRT). My question is how to compare and choose amongst them. College rankings and such are obviously pretty easy to come by. It gets a bit harder when comparing music schools within those colleges. And alas very difficult when you drill down to highly competitive, small programs, such as SRT.

The programs he’s applied to all contain a performance component, and he’s a vocalist, which I suppose impacts the decision on where to go as well. Of the schools that remain at the top of his list are

Syracuse (Setnor)
Ithaca College
Hartford
American

All have specialized SRT Programs with a performance requirement. Syracuse, Hartford, and Ithaca offer a BM and American offers a BA. Of those schools Syracuse and American would be rated highly on general academics, but what of the music school, the vocal programs, or the SRT program itself?

thanks.

bump?

Ithaca has a terrific VP program and SRT program from what I’ve heard…heresay, though. My S is an instrumentalist in his freshman year there and is exceptionally happy with the music education he is getting so far.
