Hi all! I am trying to compare UF and USF's nursing programs so that I can make the best decision possible for where to get my BSN. I just got in to UF's program and am waiting on USF's decision. It is pretty difficult to find helpful information online about both programs so I figured there may be people out there that know a lot about one program or the other. I also plan on going to grad school. Please help me with my decision! Thank you!

I don’t know too much about either schools nursing programs, but I will try to provide some insight. I know the USF program is known in the region for being good, but that may be because they don’t have as many ranked programs as UF. Either way, the UF college of nursing is ranked 20 spots higher than than USF’s, and UF’s name does carry a bit further outside the state.

Regardless, I’m sure you will have plenty of opportunities at both schools and will get out what you put in.

Congratulations on your acceptance!

Hi! Sorry this is late on the thread, but I’m applying to nursing schools for the fall of 2013 and from the research I’ve done, both schools are competitive to get into, have high pass rates on the NCLEX board exam, and have strong reputations in state (not really sure on out of state). Something that I’ve been told to consider is where each school does their clinical rotations. Also, consider whether you are willing to uproot yourself to go to a new school in a new town and start over for your last 2 years of undergrad. Simply because I’m curious, do you mind my asking where you currently go to school (before you got accepted into the College of Nursing)? Congrats on getting into UFs program! I’m sure whatever school you decided to attend was the right choice for you!

I went to SCF-Manatee (a community college in Sarasota). I decided to go to UF’s CON because of the faculty, amazing clinical rotations, and of course the reputation that comes with being a gator nurse. Thank you!

First off congrats! Second off, I’d just go with UF. They are higher ranked than USF and have prestige. Not saying USF is bad though! If you truly prefer USF and feel much more comfortable there, go for that school. But IMO, I’d totally go for UF.
