My D got accepted to Allegheny, Ohio Wesleyan, Cornell College, and Ohio University with scholarships. She is an average student from Asia.

Any ideas which school is less tough, as she wants to graduate with a good GPA? Also which school offers friendly environment for international students?

Ohio Wesleyan is hard! The saying is that it “easy to get in, but hard to stay.” I am good friends with an OWU alum.

Ohio University is probably the easiest of these schools. Well, actually, it certainly is the easiest. I have no idea about the environment for international students but I would guess that it might be the best of these schools because it is the biggest school. So, has all kinds of students.

Cornell, as you know, has that “one course at a time” thing. For some people that is good, but for others it is harder. Personally, I think it is cool and wish I had that option when I went to college.

Allegheny College is very good, but I don’t know a whole lot about its difficulty.

Cornell is a great place. Especially for international students. There are multiple active international groups on campus. The Office of Intercultural Life supports a number of different programs and opportunities. I urge you to ask the Cornell admissions office for more material and information on those.

The “One Course At A Time” academic calendar can be difficult to adjust to at first, but I cannot imagine learning any other way. I never had a professor who was unwilling to work with me if I had issues understanding the material.

I go to Ohio University and would recommend it, especially if you have scholarships. The student life at Ohio is great and if you take the right courses, it isn’t extremely challenging.
