Right now I am trying to decide which school at NYU to apply to, CAS or Gallatin. I am undecided as to what I actually want to study in college and was wondering which of these schools are better for undecided majors. With Gallatin, I have heard and read very contradicting statements as to whether or not it is better for people who have no idea what they want to do and those who know exactly what they want to do. With CAS my concern is mainly with the MAP requirements, as they seem rather limiting in what courses and areas I can explore in my first couple of years. I was wondering if any current or previous students can comment on whether they found MAP courses helpful or restricting in exploring their passions. This is all I can think of right now and if I can remember anything else I will add it, but if anyone has any other comparisons of the two schools I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

If you want to go the traditional route of going through undergrad, go to grad school, and get a job, then definitely CAS. Gallatin is more for kids who just wanna spend 4 years and college and then go do their own thing, whether it’s art, starting their own business, etc. If your looking to apply to grad school or a job at a company, CAS is the right choice.

Ok thank you, that type of explanation was pretty much exactly what I was looking for. Guess I’m applying to NYU CAS :)
