Competition with other colleges

Alright, this may be an offensive/controversial question that I shouldn’t ask but I would really like an answer as an incoming BU freshman.

When Boston University students are applying for jobs/internships in Boston and a Harvard/MIT/etc. student applies for the same position, is it more likely that the Harvard/MIT/etc. student gets it? This would be assuming all else is equal (resume, experience, etc.) or that the Boston University student has superior qualifications. I am specifically talking about undergraduate positions in research labs, internships, etc. Any anecdotes/personal experience is very much appreciated!

also something I’m interested in knowing

For computer science, sometimes I get the feeling that companies that are 10-15 minutes away by car never recruit here because they can find better pickings at Harvard and MIT. Google and Microsoft do come here. Facebook, Twitter, HubSpot, and Amazon don’t really come here though. That’s just my opinion though.
