Competitive School

What constitutes a competitive high school? Everyone here seems to go to a great school, but what is the average SAT/ACT scores that would qualify a high school as highly competitive?

Highly competitive would be a 1300 (old) plus SAT. Really top schools a 1375 plus.

my school has 1420 last year for crying out loud ..i hate it its so hard to get to the top

^^^ but you get the benefit of being surrounded by very smart kids. It should keep you motivated all the time. Plus, you get a chance to take a lot of APs. That should help you in your college admissions.

What school do you go to that has a higher SAT score average than Stuyvesant?

My school has a little over 1400 too, although that could be because we're Canadian and only about half of the student body takes the test and reports it. If the student body is unusually clever, it doesn't really out. The kids are either unconscionably intelligent or the reverse and riding daddy's $50 000 donation into the school.

Is Stuyvesant really such an incredible school? It seems to me that it would be eclipsed by certain better-known private schools. On the one hand, Stuyvesant admissions are entirely based on test scores (so one could assume that the students test well), but on the other hand Andover and company would be more selective.

Percentage wise Stuyvesant is more selective than Andover. They accept 800 out of about 22,000 every year. A Stuyvesant education definitely isn't eclipsed by most prepatory academies considering that it's free.

Wait, forget it, you go to Hotchkiss School.
