Competitive vs. Collaborative/Supportive in northeastern SLACs

Can confirm that Brandeis is very collaborative. One of the reasons that my daughter chose it was that it felt less competitive than other schools she was considering. She’s been there 3 weeks and already describes it as a “warm hug”. Should mention that her classes are in the social sciences and humanities, I don’t know if the same is true for STEM majors.

Agree. GPA/AP info might help. Some of the ones we have all listed are very selective, and can be even more competitive for women to gain a spot (for example, colleges that are already 60-70 percent female may give a boost to a male applicant if apps are fairly equal). Tests scores are probably less of an issue as huge numbers apply test optional to the SLACs.
