Is it true that students sabotage each other at Berkeley in order to get higher grades? I read that some kids rip pages out of books that could be helpful to other students and burn each other's notes... Yes? No?

They only do that at Harvard Medical School, from what I've heard. ;)

No. From my experience here at Cal, I've not had my notes burned, had pages ripped out from books Professor's put on reserve at Moffitt Library, and other crazy things. Maybe a one or two insecure people would do that, but its not a mass movement on campus. Rest assured.

I heard those tactics are mainly used by undergrad business majors and pre-medical students in curved classes here at Cal.

If it happens, which it probably does sometimes, rarely, then yeah, it's likely pre business or pre med. It's not rampant by any measure of the imagination.

So this kind of stuff generally doesn't go on in the College of Engineering/Chemistry??

Engineering is also competitive but mostly in the undergrad courses. Engineers here are really hard core. I am in the engineering school and I am trying to switch out because it's really depressing in my opinion. Since it is really hard to get into the coe, preety much everyone is very talented. The same can not be said about everyone in the college of letters and sciences. I am just glad that I am in the coe as engineering undecided because I can switch out into another college much easier. My friend wishes that she were in my position because she is trying to be an engineer. She is really stressing it out. Also my lab parter for physics 7A was shaking because we had one problem left and only 5 minutes left. I on ther other was like o well this isn't the end of the world. People might think that I am trying to switch out of engineering into an easier major because I couldn't hack. I don't care because in my heart I know that I am very capable but that it wasn't the major for me. I think that people should follow what they want to do regardless of the competition.

I agree, purplechick. That's why I'm in the L & S doing something I enjoy and not CoE or doing engineering, math, or science.

Again, this stuff generally, as in almost always, happens nowhere, but when it does happen, I'm not sure where it does.

where's sakky, doesn't he/she usually respond to this question?

yeah, purplechick. My lab partner is funnier...methinks

So there was this Bio 1B question in the lab worksheet that goes, "What does gametophyte........"
So I wrote "gametes" (the answer)
Then this one person said, "Ooooh no, the question is what DOES gametophyte....., so we should write gamete...", as if putting an "s" in the end is such a big ****ing deal.....

Man.......I was like W T F..... ?!
That was pedantic and lame.

PS I'm stuck with this group for the rest of the semester. God bless me
