Total academic apathy. Very few kids at my school are even the slightest bit concerned about academics.

Even with the lack of focus on studies, our sports teams suck. Our football team is terrible and hardly ever wins a game. When they get a win, its versus the only other school in the region or w/e that’s worse. Our basketball team is okay, but still not very impressive. The only really decent sports teams we have are tennis, crew, and track.

Tons of really stupid people, so my elective classes especially suck.

Two thirds of my school speaks English as a second language.

My school hasn’t sent anyone to an ivy or top 20 school in a long time. The best colleges anyone has gotten into are in-state schools i.e. W&M and UVA. They’re good colleges, but very few people get into even those. Last year we had one girl get into Georgetown and one into UMass out of a class of around 400.

No class rank, which is good and bad. Good because it’s not a super competitive environment, but bad because I’d probably be in the top 5/400 (only because the year before last I got 2 B’s since I didn’t really care about school then either) and because I think my school actually needs some competition considering no one cares about their grades.

Kind of overcrowded. When you walk through the main hall between periods it’s a total cluster f***.

Only have like 1 AP class which I’m taking this year. IB Program has too many class restrictions and crap.

Pretty much everything that Leila said.

I’m an Asian student, and I have a few compaints:

Resume-padding (who are predominantly Asian) who cheat on math/science tests and win student body elections
“” joining sports team and *ing off the coaches by being last on the team
“” managing the school’s football team’s website and being rewarded with varsity letters and rings
“” not telling each other what activities they’re doing after school
“” running for club officer elections of clubs they haven’t ever attended, and play it off as “just for lulz” when others get *ed at what they’re doing

But I’m sure this happens at your school too?

Something that really ****es me off is how we’re considered the best school in the county yet we probably have the least amount of options available to students as far as courses go. My high school doesn’t even offer anything besides Spanish for world languages, and it only goes up to Spanish II. Ridiculous. We’re not even a bad school, it’s just that our money goes a lot towards athletics. Our APs are limited as well.

Oh, and I’m really hating that one credit fine arts req. I have to fulfill. >=(

Graduation requirements.

Nightmarish scheduling system makes it impossible to take what you want.

Freshmen.

The counselor for my class believes that good grades alone will get you into a decent school.

Money is wasted on things like a marquee for the front of the school, when it could be used to fix our overcrowding problem.

We have few extracurricular options, and the ones we do have are pretty standard, run-of-the-mill things that can be found at nearly every school.

Everyone either uses drugs or absolutely refuses to be associated with those who do use drugs.

We need to take a semester-long speech class to graduate.

The cafeteria is way too small. Either expand it or add more lunch periods.

Its reputation is falling apart.

god i have so many. i hate some people there

-there is one ap class (its only for seniors) and no honours courses, so all classes are on 4.0 scale and the courses r as hard as ap or honours or college courses
-the teachers dont hide who they like or dislike
-theres 75 people in the whole school
-the headmaster is a stuck-up prick who will go along with idiot teacher cuz hes to arrogant to admit he hired a bad teacher
-a false sense of superiority because we are better than all the public schools and are the only private school around
-a lot of stuck up students
-getting elected to student council is rly hard or rly easy because of the small classes, but each sex votes for their sex and theres more girls but im a guy
-the girls are boring, and the guys are cool or rly wierd
-by graduation time, prob about 90% of students dislike my high school
-50% of students go to college at LAC that owns/runs our school because they dont have the balls to try something new, and many turn down top schools for a good, but 2nd tier LAC
-or drama program sucks kinda because the music teacher directs everything but doesnt know that much, and she is wayyy to nice in casting and rehearsal
-way to conservative, prob 90% of students are republicans
-you have to take 4 years of latin in high school, and there are no elective languages
-every year i was in high school there was a new bio/chem teacher, yeah i didnt learn a lot in those classes.
-some teachers tend to teach there beliefs as being simply the way it is and act like there are no other sides.
-there no electives besides arts, anda very limited number of e.c. opprotunities with in school.
-this one bugged me the most, the college counselor did nothing really. she was useless, all she did rly was the things a counselor has to do. never helped me with finding colleges, the one time i asked for suggestions she told me some colleges that students apply to all the time
-the only real pro is it was prob better than the public schools, easy to participate in sports, and jr/sr trip to europe
ha i said a lot, i guess i needed to vent. but all these problems sure made graduation not sad at all and an awesome day.

P.E is required for 4 years :(

^Same here. But I’m free of those onerous requirements. :)

Grade inflation.

Cheating.

Horrid FB pictures poisoning my news feed when I least expect them.

AP classes with incompetent teachers who are almost as dumb as the students.

Overcrowding.

No toilet paper or hand soap in bathrooms.

Roaches, tiny mice, and the occasional ginormous rat.

Fiscal irresponsibility.

I’m sure I’ll have more to add to this list later.

^OMG, I would not be able to go to your school because of #7. I’m deathly afraid of rodents! Plus, that’s just disgusting. Lol.

lol

No APs until sophomore year

Gym required all 4 years, Keyboarding for 1 semester

Big gap between students that care ands students that don’t

Grade inflation

Odd school hours (7:40-3:10)

Counselors are rarely there

No languages offered besides Spanish and French

Need a pass to go to the library before and after school and during lunch

I think I have the highest ACT score of my class with only a 31 :(

A lot of people here thinks straight A’s will get you anywhere

Most of the admin sucks

Too many dang black people lol

Some things I like:

Nice selection of classes

Nearly all of the teachers are great

Gym is an easy A

Our school isn’t too divided (we really don’t have the jocks, the emos, the preps, etc)

The guidance counselors are extremely helpful

All of our classrooms had projectors last year

We have ranks

Only 7 periods (not including lunch). Most schools have 8 and somehow end and start at the same time. Having an extra period is a huge advantage…

I hate how my school ASB does the complete opposite of what an ASB should do…they basically created their own bubble where if you’re not in ASB, then you’re basically not important. Way to go again, Tesoro.

This thread makes me lol. I want to scream stuff about my high school, nasty things.
- I have two teachers that make me want to run out of high school. Not only do they now like me, I hate the subject they teach because of them. That is how un-motivating they are.
- The extra-curriculars are practically a waste of my lunch time and a waste of energy, most of them are not as good and organized as they are thought to be.
- My school is mostly about appearances, I hate how superficial some private schools can be.

"Only 7 periods (not including lunch). Most schools have 8 and somehow end and start at the same time. Having an extra period is a huge advantage… "

My school actually has 9 periods of 40 minutes each and they aren’t so great on holidays.

ALL-GIRLS

Very small

There are very few class options (6 possible math classes, 4 sciences, 5 histories, 4 englishes)

Religion is a required class

DANCE is a required class (one marking period a year, all 4 years)

Uniform

Our fields are 10 miles down the road, and we have no softball fields, pools, or tennis courts

We don’t have a real mascot; we’re called the Raiders but no one knows what this elusive Raider is

Senior prom is on Sunday of memorial day weekend

Our french fries are terrible

And my school lunch is terribly expensive, though the food isn’t bad*
I spend like 4$ a day on average.

*I hate it when kids complain about school food… it isn’t that bad… I like it… lol. Anyone else think this? It’s mostly the XC runners who complain about food served by the school “dude that looks nasty…” “dude it’s a pizza, calm down”

^Bro, I like my food real, not plastic, and artificial, calm your ballsack.

my school was bad. it wasnt profitable, by last year so many kids stopped getting it because of how bad it was it was losing lots of money so they had to stop. it was obvious they watered down marinara sauce when there were thick parts and then a pool of watery sauce on they plate. idk how they screwed stuff up so much, but they also didnt stay basic enough and made rly gross stuff instead

No. If I am to be paying $4 for one slice of pizza, I would prefer for it to be more than just a thin piece of crust with grease on top.

Also, they took away all the yummy junk food and sodas in the vending machines and replaced it with those darn baked Lays chips (which literally have no taste), and “healthy” chocolate chip cookies that taste like plastic. I miss my Hershey’s and Twix. It’s some California state law to mandate food served in vending machines at schools, which I think is ********. Who is the state of California to tell me whether or not I can buy and enjoy my M&Ms during the school day? Find some other way to solve the growing obesity epidemic.

/rant. I just really like junk food, as you can tell. :(
