Completely lost!! Help!

Hey everyone,
I really don't know when I should take my sat 2s and which ones I should take! I'm going to be a soph in sept. And the 3 I sorta want to take (for right now) are math 2, chem, and us history.

I definitely am not taking a language (English or otherwise) or any other science (other than chem). Math 2 is pretty much a lock, so it's the other two I am wavering on.

I was planning on taking math 2 and chem in June (I'm taking precalc and chem this year) and us history next year, but I think that might be too much, since I am also taking 2 APs sophomore year. Also, should I even take chem? I am pretty certain (90% sure) that I will NOT pursue science in college, but for some reason; I am being pressured to take a science one...

I mean, isn't the selection of sat 2s suppose to reflect the interests of the applicant? I don't know what I want to do (maybe something humanities-related?), just what i don't want to do--science.

Any comments/ suggestions are greatly appreciated!! Sorry for any typos/grammar mistakes!! I'm on my iPod. If you would like, I would be more than happy to chance you or answer questions!! Just mention that in the reply. Again, thanks, everyone!!

Bump. I couldn’t help it!! I’m sorry!!!

You should take SAT subject tests right after you finish a course. So taking math II and chem tests this year after precalc and chem is a good idea, you’ re on the right track. And don’t think by taking APs, you won’t have time to study for SATIIs. Taking the chem and math SATIIs in June would be much better than taking them in May this year(during AP hell) or in October senior year, when you have forgotten everything and when you are in application season.
I assume youre taking a us history class junior year. Take the SATII june of junior year. This also means planning out your sat schedule for junior year too, cuz you can’t take sats and SATIIs the same day (or month i should say).
Three is a good number for satIIs if:
a. you do well (700+) in all of them
b. two or more in related to your intended major
c. you want to be more competitive than the average applicant
If you take the 3 you mentioned, and you plan to study the humanities in college, and you did well in chem, admissions would see you as well rounded.
Remember: for subject test related to your major, 700+ is competitive, 750+ is competitive for Ivies. For subject test NOT related to your major, 700+ is good enough, for any college.

Wow, thanks!! That was really informative. But would taking math 2 in the fall of junior year instead be a good idea? I could study during the summer. Taking 2 sats on the same day just scares me. I am definitely able to get an 800 on math if I prepare adequately, but chem scares me. Yeah…I scare easily, haha. Thanks again!!

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention: I’m taking AP Calc ab junior year, so i guess I wouldn’t be unprepared for math 2, even in the fall.

math 2 just requires knowledge up to precalc. i guess you could do it in the fall, but i would just get it over with. free up your summer for an internship or something like that.
