Completing GE requirements

Hi, I am a pre cognitive science major in the College of letters and Science. I was wondering how much time I would have to complete all the GE requirements? Do they need to be completed before I can declare my major or do I have until graduation to complete them? Any help I can get on this will be much appreciated. Thanks!

Doesn’t matter when you complete the GEs… just that you do before you graduate.

Thanks Qipao! That helps because I want to be able to save some for my junior and senior years to balance out the workload.

np. for example… i couldn’t stand taking some of my GEs… so i deliberately put them off… and my last three classes at UCLA were freshman-type GEs… and uh i completed something like half of my upper divs my 2nd year of college . . . and um did some of my pre-req classes near the tail end of my studies @ ucla

What major were you quipao

she was history
i’m psych, and i’m doing the same thing… i still need 2 GEs. one of them is visual and performing arts. you would think 4 years in marching band would suffice, but no…

marching band should not be considered an art…

it’s performing :-P

What are the GE requirements, more specifically? Is foreign language a required subject?

You have to pass a class or test equivalent to the third class in that language. For GE’s, just google UCLA GE Requirements
