As noted by csleslie51, the U-CAN list is quite helpful, although it does not include all of the non-denominational Christ-centered colleges listed above.

On the above list, it lists Averett University as not updated. Averett is currently not associated with the Baptist denomination, as the previous President decided that it was healthier to foster a non-denominational community and also tolerate non-biblical beliefs among students and faculty. However, the new President is working to refoster its relationships with the Virginia Baptist Association.

Hope International University (Fullerton, CA)

California Baptist University (Riverside)

Concordia College (Lutheran-Irvine, CA)

Vanguard University (Costa Mesa, CA)

Biola University (either La Mirada or La Habra, CA)(I always mix those cities up)

Azusa Pacific University (somewhere around Biola)

Point Loma Nazarene University (San Diego)

Now, Hope is not recommended. Trust me, my sister and I both used to go there. It’s just a money pit. The academics are horrible. Only go if you want to be a preacher, missionary, or preacher’s wife. That’s all that the school is good for.

Biola is definitely the most religious of the ones I mentioned. It has very strict rules and is also good academically.

Azusa is the party school. Many apartments will not rent to APU students at all because of the partying.

All I know about Cal Baptist is that it always has a really good softball team.

I don’t know much about Vanguard or Concordia. Vanguard doesn’t have much of a campus but is near South Coast Plaza (a very upscale mall.) Concordia does have a nice campus, and it is very hilly.

Point Loma has a beautiful campus that will really give you a work out. Talk about hills. It’s right on the coast. The softball field is on a cliff overlooking the ocean. Seriously, if you were to hit an out of the park homerun it would probably end up in the water.

Luther College, Decorah, Iowa [Luther College, Decorah, Iowa, U.S.A. Residential, undergraduate liberal arts college emphasizing learning, faith, leadership, and service.](http://www.luther.edu/)
Wartburg College, Waverly, Iowa [Wartburg College - Waverly, Iowa, USA](http://www.wartburg.edu/)
St. Olaf. Northfield, Minnesota [St. Olaf College—A private liberal arts college of the Lutheran church in Minnesota](http://www.stolaf.edu/)
Dordt, Souix Center, Iowa [Dordt College: Reformed, Christian College Education](http://www.dordt.edu/)
Gustavus Adolphus, Saint Peter, Minnesota [Gustavus Adolphus College: church-related, residential liberal arts private college firmly rooted in its Swedish and Lutheran heritage | Gustavus Adolphus College](http://gustavus.edu/)

Those are the colleges near here, if you want more info just ask!

As somone who attended undergrad at a college affiliated with the Churches of Christ, I noticed some omissions from the U-CAN list for that denomination:

Cascade College, Portland, OR
Lipscomb University, Nashville, TN
Oklahoma Christian University, Oklahoma City, OK
Pepperdine University, Malibu, CA

Many of the colleges in post 42 may be affiliated with certain religions but I’m not sure they really even consider themselves Christian churches. My son attends one of those on the list - Roanoke College in Virginia. It is known as the second oldest Lutheran College in the US but has no religion requirements at all. It has a wonderful service requirement that follows the spirit of the Lutheran church and a religious element to the induction and graduation ceremonies but that’s about it.

I’m also a Catholic and I feel the same way.

University of California, Berkeley - Church of Satan

Does anyone know anything about Messiah College in Grantham, PA? It seems like a good school

Nice, attractive campus just south of Harrisburg, PA …out in the countryside. About 3K students I believe. Sadly, like some other Christian schools, some of their profs appear to be succumbing to the doctrine of post-modernity. Still, on whole, a very good evangelical school in an attractive setting with very nice, attractive student body.

If one looks @ Messiah, you may also want to look at Eastern Universtiy in St. Davids, especially if one is looking for a bit more global and urban perspectives. While I suspect essentially in name only, Tony Campolo is on the faculty of Eastern.

Calvin College and Hope College seem to have been overlooked. Both are excellent Christian schools with strong academics. They are reform, but have students from many different Christian denominations and backgrounds.

Add to the list of intentional, evangelical Christian colleges: LeTourneau University in eastern TX.
Strong departments include: Business, Education, Engineering, Aeronautics

Malone College in Canton, Ohio.

**Sorry, I keep forgetting: Malone University as of this year.

It’s officially non denom., but is heavily assossciated with the Evangelical Society of Friends.

Malone’s president just resigned over charges of plagiarism. So sad.

It also seems that people are using protestant and evangelical interchangably

shedaddy, I suspect you’re correct that they are not. Thanks for noting.
