Computational Biology at FSU

Anyone know anything about the Computational Biology program at FSU?

@janiemiranda

Hi I asked a Bio major friend of my FSU son and here is her reply:

I know somewhat about the major but most of the stuff I know focuses on what they have to complete for the biology department as its a joint Bio and Computer Science degree. They have to take Bio 1 & 2 but no labs are required, Gen. Chem 1 & 2 with lab, Genetics, Calc 1 & 2, Stats for Bio, and College or General Physics A. This is all pretty similar for a Bio major apart from you have the option to take either Stats or Calc 2. I don’t know much about the computer science stuff. I know she should have programming experience or plan to take a programming class freshman year. Probably C++ and maybe even Python. Also being in the College of Arts and Sciences, a language and a minor is required.

Thank you so much, @vistajay. Good to know. She might need to try to get some extra programming experience this summer as I don’t think her school has a class for it. She is doing some basic programming for her robotics club.
