Hello,

I am interested in computational biology/bioinformatics, but I am not sure of which program to do at umich. I know there is a lot of research going on in this field but it is mostly for graduates.

I was just accepted into the college of engineering for biomedical engineering, but I am not sure if that is right any more. Does anybody know what the mathematical biology or the informatics programs in the lsa are like? How much bio and cs would I get to do?

Thanks,
Eli

Anyway, so looking at the classes, it seems that informatics has the least biology involved, so if you were looking for a lot of biology, that’s probably not great (though you could do informatics and biology)

If you like math there’s not a whole lot of math as part of the informatics.

I think at heart, informatics is about computer science, biology is about biology, and math is about math.

I’m not doing any of those so I don’t know what more to say, but hopefully that helps.
