Anyone have any experience with this degree / job market? My son has a passion for both computer science and linguistics, so this might be the way to go. He has researched it online but would like to hear about it from someone who is actually in the field or pursuing the major. Any info at all would be appreciated.

I don't really know anything about it, but Carnegie Mellon's Language Technologies Institute (only a graduate program, though it may offer a minor to undergrads) might have some information.

I am a current graduate student at the University of Washington in computational linguistics ([UW Professional Master’s in Computational Linguistics - Home](http://www.compling.washington.edu/compling/)). Is your son looking at graduate programs?
