I’m currently a high school sophomore, and I’m really interested in Hillsdale for its conservative ideals. The problem is what I want to study: computational mathematics. How strong is this program? Are employers going to cringe when they see i majored in a computer-based degree at a LAC?
I’ve been told by one of my friends in the department that the computer science major is being discontinued in the next couple semesters. Not sure whether the computational math major will still be offered. There are several phenomenal professors in the mathematics department if you are open to a normal math major (I have math-minded friends who absolutely love the major), but if you’re set on computer science, Hillsdale is probably not the best choice.
That said, there are tons of LACs with great computer-based degrees. If you would like a LAC, there are still plenty of computer science/mathematics options out there.
