I got into USC’s class of 2019 for computational neuroscience and I was wondering how hard it is to get into this major? I’m just curious because the competition to get a major reflects how difficult the major is. I know that USC isn’t well known for its sciences, but it is a great research university because it has so much $$$$$$$.
“I’m just curious because the competition to get a major reflects how difficult the major is.”
I wouldn’t take that at face value.
Some majors are hard to get into just because of supply (spots) vs demand (applicants). It doesn’t mean the major is difficult or even that good. Additionally, some majors that are easier to get into may be more difficult than selective majors.
With that said, I know some one involved with computational neuroscience and he’s brilliant. I’m sure the major is difficult, but manageable for bright people, just based on its content breadth and depth.
