Hi people, I am applying as a computer engineering major and was wondering if there is anyone, who is in CE in college now, who could answer a few questions for me. So, I heard that computer engineering is a very difficult major and have been told that I would struggle in the CE classes.

I just wanted to hear some opinions from some CE majors. Are the classes rigorous and difficult? Are you constantly studying with no free time?

Any personal experiences or background info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

CE is not easy - circuits and electronics are not easy subjects to master. Engineering in general is challenging. You have to have strong math skills!

I was extremely good at math all through elementary school, middle school, high school and started out as a computer engineering major at Texas. I had to take introduction to electrical engineering and introduction to computer engineering. Both were big time weed out classes. I was breezing through my other 3 classes but struggled big time in those. I finished off electrical engineering with a C- and had to drop Computer Engineering. I didn’t feel like my math classes did much for me. More than half of my friends in my major switched out of it and I did too. I transferred to math and since have been breezing through it with zero stress and my GPA has been going way up. Of my friends that stuck with Computer Engineering, they told me that it got a little easier after the introductory courses. Many of them did tell me that they think it’s the hardest major at our school. From what I can deduce from myself and my friends who are still in the major, being good at math helps but it very far from guarantees success.
