Recently I've taken a liking to computer engineering. The problem is that I'm not sure if I would like the hardware aspect of it. I know that I'm fascienated as to how the processor and other components of a computer work and how they are built. However, I also love the programming aspect and how it 'runs' the computer. I know some programming, enough to get me started. My question is, how can I determine whether I would like the hardware aspect. I've also thought of just splitting up computer engineering and just either branching off to EE or CS. Again, this would determine if I like the hardware aspect of it. Any ideas or useful information?

From what I understand, computer engineering is divided into two sub fields, computer hardware engineering and computer software engineering, these two fields branch out into other concentrations.
Well certain schools have different kinds of computer engineering programs, some have a mixture of software and hardware or it could focus mainly on one.
Seems like your more interesting in the software side, what schools are you interesting in? Find out more about their specific programs.

sorry to hijack your post :P
I'm also intersted in computer engineering, however, i'm concerned about finding a job after college. are there many jobs that require a computer engineering degree?

You don't need to be worried about finding a job after college. Computer engineering, unlike computer programming, is not too easy to outsource since it is hardware-based. If you look at some BLS data, computer hardware engineers are among the best paid engineers, possibly indicating a shortage of computer engineers, thus indicating good prospects for CompE.
