Computer/Industrial Engineering shootout

I have just two options; need to pick one based on academic reputation, location, work prospects, grad school prospects, weather.

U Minnesota
Virginia Tech

I'm considering majoring in either:
a. Computer Engineering with perhaps a minor in Econ/Business
b. Industrial Engineering

All opinions welcome.

Overall, they are both roughly equal. But if weather is important to you, then I would say VTech wins. Twin Cities has some pretty cold winters.

Where do most UMN and VT grads end up working? That's also a fairly important factor for me...

(because I intend to work either in the Northeast or the West coast.)

If you want to work in the Northeast, why not pick a Northeast school? I'd guess that it will be easier to find internships in your areas of interest making it easier to find work after graduation. Same thing with the West Coast.

OOS cost is a major factor for me. See: <a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/577751-transferring-ucb-vt.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/577751-transferring-ucb-vt.html</a></p>

Keep in mind that Industrial Engineering is ranked #1 in Georgia Institute of Technology.

Yeah, I'd love to be able to transfer to GT, but unfortunately, it's right on the brink of my budget, and with tuition costs rumored to rise next year, I don't think it's a risk worth taking. Or is it?
