Hey,

Hi, I’m a comp sci major at Rice.

I believe the undergraduate program is certainly competitive when comparing it to those schools. I have a friend who is a CS major at Stanford and I seemed to know more about CS in general than he did when we met up at the beginning of summer after our freshmen years. So as far as quality of education, it is certainly competitive, if not better (at the undergraduate level).

Furthermore, Rice CS grads are really successful. Those who go into industry easily go into the top tech companies. Microsoft has particularly strong connections with Rice. We also have people intern at / work at Google all the time.

If you want grad school, we have really easy undergrad research opportunities that you won’t get at some of those other schools. Rice is all about its research, so if you want research, you will be able to get it. I started research first semester freshmen year.

So yes, Rice’s CS program is certainly among the best.
