Rice vs. Stanford

i am a girl going into computer science, but i also really really really like biology and chemistry.

i love love love love love love love love love rice, but i am doing this program this summer that is getting me into and pushing me to go to stanford.

stanford isn't rice, but the computer science program is supposed to be better, it's much more well known, and there would probably be more internship opportunities during the school year because its so close silicon valley.

but i still love rice.

so basically, i was wondering if you think it is worth it to go to rice for the social environment (residential colleges, kids, slightly smaller than stanford) or is it worth it to go to stanford because its stanford.

any thoughts would be really appreciated!!
i have been dreaming of going to rice for so long, that i can't imagine wanting to go to a different school more

Apply to both and see where you get in. Both schools are extremely competitive, with Stanford more selective.

Good luck!

If you’re applying to Stanford, I would suggest that you also apply to Berkeley as a fallback. Both Stanford and Rice are more selective than Berkeley, but Berkeley’s CS is just as good as Stanford’s. I would also suggest that you apply to CMU. For CS, go for those schools with the highest rank, because I think the top employers are “monitoring” their graduates. Rice is special and the campus is beautiful. The students are also quite smart. But CS at Rice isn’t a top 10 program yet.

thanks guys!!!

Don’t look at ranks or selectivity, go with this… “where do i belong?”

Source: My #1 choice is Rice, and #2 is Stanford.

If you’re anything like me (and it seems like you are… then you’re what rice is looking for.)
