Hey guys. I was admitted to Columbia college this year, and I wanna study computer science. I know that you can major in CS in both SEAS and the college (CS majors in SEAS have more requirements though) but which school is it better to study CS in? Does a CS degree from SEAS look better to employers/grad schools than a CS degree from CC? Is it worth it to transfer from CC to SEAS?

It doesn’t matter. CC and SEAS kids take CS classes together anyway.

The main difference is the B.A. vs. B.S., which doesn’t even matter unless you’re applying to certain government jobs.

The major requirements for a CS major are significantly less at the College than in SEAS.

There are less Core requirements for seas

Yes, Core, but not requirements. On the contrary, we have far more required classes to do than College students.

Unless you hate the core, don’t transfer out. It’s 8 more subjects for the B.S., which can really hurt you from taking electives in other subjects of interest.
