Does anyone have input on studying computer science at Whitman? My son is interested in computer science. Courses seem limited. Are there opportunities other than the 3-2 program?

Nope. The only option is 3-2. This is so because Computer Science is only offered as a minor at Whitman.

CS is not a major at Whitman. There are limited classes dealing with computers.

There are a couple classes for C++. There are a couple classes in computer aided video design / computer animation.

Most people at Whitman who are into CS end up majoring in Math.

I have a couple friends who are Whitman alumni who now work for Microsoft. One majored in Math, the other majored in Film.

Don't discount the power of a liberal arts degree to open the door. But if your son REALLY wants to study CS, perhaps Whitman isn't the place for him.
