I think of the math link with CS, not the business link with IT. Post #9 is referenced by the comp sci prof in post #23. That’s a great post- #9!
I’m currently a CS major in the Engineering school at Cornell and I can say that there is not much of a difference between my education and that of the A&S CS majors here. The only difference is that I had to take the engineering core classes(which include Chem and Physics) while they have to take the A&S core classes(which include a foreign language). I don’t think that employers or grad schools really care which path you take. Given your daughters’ interests I’m guessing that she would happier at a liberal arts/ arts and sciences school. There is growing crossover between more traditionally liberal arts fields and CS. This is especially true with topics like Artificial Intelligence which can crossover with Psychology and linguistics.
^^ Yeah, she’s going to have to decide which she likes more (or despises less)-foreign language or physics. I’m betting she’ll be habla-ing espanol again…
I’m pretty sure DS would trade a year of Physics and Chemistry, straight up, for just his last remaining semester of French. :)). And, do much better at them.
