Computer Science + F**king Math :( ???

Hello,
I'm so sad now, i just read an article about Computer Science and math, and writer says, that in community college you will study math more than computers, so, i hate math, because im very bad at math, yeah i don't even try to read any lesson or even do my math homework, but i really love computers, and i wanna be an engineer but i don't think that this dream will be true, yeah i'm f**king lazy, but just answer me guys and especially who are in community college and studding, computer science, is there any chance to learn math at the college i mean from basics, or any other solution, i'm still at school, it's my final year, and yeah i can work hard to learn math at the final year, but i just wanna know, does math really really matter in computer science ? or just change the major ??

and thanks

Computer science really is expression of mathematics in language. If you’re really bad at math and don’t know what an algorithm is or what its applications are, you may want to steer clear of engineering or comp sci.

Hmm… But these thing u r saying we dont even learn it, we study limits…logical functions… but algorithm we dont learn it, but even i dont know this, how much time i can get to know all Computer Science math ? i still have one year, i really can do anything to study CS and make my dream true

I personally wouldn’t start comp-sci classes without being at a calculus level in your studies. Your current math level isn’t the big issue though. If you’re not very good at math, why do you want to subject yourself to a path of study and career which involves a large amount of math.
Liking computers and studying computer science are two very different things.

dont let math stop you from your ambitions. there are plenty of free tutoring services offered at almost all CC’s. take advantage of them. im sure that there are many engineers and comp science majors who arent the brightest at math.

if you need help, dont be afraid to seek it. its there :)

I never thought id be able to make it into USC, but here i am.
i barely graduated HS and education itself was my vice. just do what you gotta do.

JetLogic, thanks for your honest, but i can learn math i still have 1 year b4 college, and i can change to love math just because it’s one of my dream requirement, in our high school we have one teacher he is good at computers, i will ask him to teach me computer maths basics, i can do it during a year with working hard, and to be prepared to college, that’s my plan

Dainese, Thanks for these words, and yeah i can do it, and i can make my dream true, we heard a lot of success stories, from nothing to the top, just working hard, and yeah i can do it :D

Thanks for you all, i love you :D

I think you might be confused as to what computer science is in relation to computers. Are you thinking of the more practical “being good at computers” like diagnosing problems or building one?
[Computer science - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](Computer science - Wikipedia)
That page will lead you to some areas that show the pointers (no pun intended) of actual CS. If you want to start self studying, buy a book that will teach you a beginner language like C++

JetLogic, Yeah I think im confused, but the article clear my way a little, i had some experience with PHP, i didnt complete it, but i know some basics, and about C++ i heard that it’s the mother of computer languages, i think it require Algorithm, but i will give it a try, so you make feel like it’s not about math, it’s about other things, I’M REALLY CONFUSED

Computer languages and algorithms are basically applying math to work in structuring information.

It sounded more like you want to go into Information Technology, IT for short. This is more based around the physical aspects of computers rather than the theoretical and mathematical.

No, I dont wanna go into Information Technology, All I want to do is, developing software with C++ like you said or web development like PHP, i just wanna ask you what the important things i have to get before going into college, i have 1 year, i can know all basics.

Iyliass hello friend! Junior this year giving you some advice you solely requested. Steer away from CS. It’s not just about math… Based on your comments and the intricately question “what if?” it is obvious to me(sorry to be so blunt) you don’t have what it takes if you just admitted you are lazy and don’t think you will prevail based on logic/math. I don’t know what else to say. Good luck!

What math class are you taking right now?
