Hi, I would like to ask about possible ways to learn computer science in high school. Is there a high school somewhere that is especially good for studying computer science? What are good ways to learn languages?

Look up tutorials online and play with them.

python = happy

we have senior-level computer science courses at our school. it's in canda though. we learn about flowcharts, making programs, etc. when i took it in summer school (for a new credit), we were using c (or was it c+?). but when i took it in our school, we studied watcom basic. but generally if you learn one language it'll get easier to learn another since most of the basic functions are the same.

What most people learn first are C++ or Java. I'm taking it online for credit.

Best way to learn CS is to program until you're blue in the face. :)

I go to a public school and we have CompSci 1, 2, and AP offered as classes. One option you might look into is taking night classes at a community college if you're really serious about this stuff. Otherwise, you can just buy one of the million books that are out there and figure it out by yourself.

That is a lot of what I do. I've heard a lot about Python. What makes it different from other languages like C++ or Java?

Take AP comp Sci or take a college course

I know EPGY has an online CS course in atleast Java. Good luck, I love Java.

:)

Good advice; do you have any specific programming books you might recommend?

I'm taking the EPGY C courses that you have to take before moving on to Java. Cool! We both live in Minnesota.
