Computer Science/Math Joint Major Colleges

Does anyone know some schools that offer Math/CompSci as a single major

I know UIUC has the major, any others?

MIT does.

You could easily do a CS/Math double major anywhere.

but it seems a double major would be harder to achieve than the interdisciplinary degree

The University of Oxford in the UK offers a 4-year joint CS/Math major.

Oxford is close to $50k a year.....

And MIT is... $50K/year.

MIT meets 100% of financial need though..oxford meets 0%

Trust me...I wanted to go to Cambridge.

It is like $20k for tuition,$20k for housing and $10k for fees and living expenses or something. ...I just gave up for now and I will try for grad school which they actually want Americans for.

I wanted to apply last year as well, but when I found out the cost...well, let's just say I never applied. Are you sure those numbers were in dollar values? Last time I looked, Cambridge cost 50,000 pounds, which is closer to 100,000 USD/year.

No it is $50k, or 25,000 pounds.

which definintely does not help me at all

found it - posting it for anyone who needs it

"Does anyone know some schools that offer Math/CompSci as a single major"

Almost every school offers a self-designed major option and it would be relatively easy to make that work with Math/CS.

I agree that nearly every school offers it. I have that major at College of the Holy Cross.

A bunch of people I know at CMU did a CS/Math double major without a whole lot of extra work. You're required by the CS school to have at least a minor (and math is easily the most common), so upgrading to a major instead of a minor is just a few extra classes.

"No it is $50k, or 25,000 pounds."

You are correct nightmare (at least for the majority of programs)

Stanford has a great program in Mathematical and Computational Science.

Stanford University: Department of Mathematics and Computational Science

They also have the Institute for Computational and Mathematical Engineering. It's pretty nice:
