Computer Science or Computer Engineering with large merit scholarships

My parents are willing to pay 25k per year. Where can I get substantially large merit aid or free ride? My stats:

California resident, SAT 2300, SAT math 800, UGPA3.93, WGPA 4.88, 15 APs, NMSF, National AP Scholar, Nordstrom scholarship winner, research, above average EC, etc.

Thank you.

Most CC’ers will not know what CS and CSE mean.

Thanks @TomSrOfBoston . Fixed.

Have you looked here looked here?

You should take a look at UT Dallas for their NM Scholarship (unless you need to go to a school with a football team)
http://honors.utdallas.edu/nmsp

complete coverage of UT Dallas tuition and mandatory fees for eight semesters (confirmed that you can use this scholarship for grad school if you finish undergrad in less than 8 semesters)
a $4,000 per semester cash stipend to defray the costs of books, supplies, and other expenses
a $1,500 per semester housing stipend for students living on campus,
So that’s $11,000 year. Room and Board is $9,944 and Books and supplies are $1,200 = $11,144

That’s only $144 a year (or $72 a semester) short of a full ride!

plus there’s the one-time award of up to $6,000 for an international study abroad program after completion of two academic years in residence.

Any know if UT Dallas stacks scholarships?

Does University of Alabama have these programs? The student would get HUGE merit aid there as a NMsf with a high GPA and SAT score…huge.

Plus…in addition to the big NMF scholarship to UA…

he’d ALSO get 2500 per year from eng’g.

so, he’d get:

Free tuition for 5 years
free housing for one year
2000 study abroad money
3500 NMF money per year
2500 eng’g money per year

Practically a free ride.

Yes, Bama has those E disciplines.

It sounds like you don’t want to go to school in California right? No UCs?

I will be applying to UCs as well, but UCs are very unpredictable.

If you are NMSF then apply to USC and Santa Clara. Not sure if CSULB still give free tuition for MMSF, but please do check.

How about Barrett Honors at ASU? also look at University of Arizona . If you want to explore the midwest, there’s Kansas State University and University of Kansas. There’s Iowa and Minnesota, although I am not sure how much merit they give.

Thank you @DrGoogle I plan to apply to all 3 you mentioned.

Thank you everyone.

Unless things have changed, Minnesota will give the Gold scholarship (I believe now $12,000) and an additional $1,000 p/year for NMFs. My 2nd son (who was a National Merit Finalist) is currently a CS student at University of Alabama and is getting an excellent education. I have heard that silicon valley companies hire many interns from Santa Clara and USC so if you are seriously considering CS, those are a good option. (Although they do hire interns from all over, including in my son’s case, from UA.) Good luck.

Re: UCs

If your UC application includes many, such as UCSC, UCD, UCSB, UCI, it seems rather unlikely that you will be shut out. Also, there are CSUs.

But you can also look at the sticky threads about scholarships at the top of this section.

@kjcphmom UMN-TC offered $16500/yr to my D a couple years ago including the Gold scholarship and a couple smaller one for NMF.
