However, many of my friends told that GaTech is known mainly for engineering and not CSc. So I considered changing my major.
I am kind of double minded becasue in terms of curriculum CSc and CEngg are mostly same. But, will research opportunities, job prospects, internships favor CEngg?
CS is actually a very valid major here. I’m a first year CM (Computational Media) major, and I have to say, the College of Computing is the best college on campus. Just my opinion of course, but there are loads of prospects for CS and CM majors here. CoC hosts its own job fair twice a semester and is always bringing in companies to talk to students and host panels. Your major really just depends on whether you want to do hardware or software (obviously not the only difference, but still). CE is part of the college of engineering, while CS is college of computing. I can’t speak for CE opportunities, but I know that CS students definitely aren’t lacking in them!

Graduates of ECE at Georgia Tech enjoy two distinct advantages–they are among the highest paid of all engineering disciplines and the most hotly pursued by industry and top graduate, business, medical, and law schools.
In other words you can’t go wrong with either degree. Pick the one you are most interested in.
