So I'm trying to decide between two programs I've been accepted to. I was accepted into Purdue's college of science for computer science as well as Virginia Tech. I applied for engineering at VT (where the comp sci major is), but got into University Studies so I'd have to reapply for that school later on. I'm not from either state so money doesn't exactly play a major role here. Both offer the large school feel I like (I want to do marching band, love football, etc.), and both have great computer science programs. So which do you think is the best option for me? Thanks :)

What you may want to do is ask on the VT forums how difficult it is to declare or change into CS there once you are there. If it is difficult, consider whether you may want to do some alternative major there if you attend.

It is not that hard to transfer into the e’school (provided you have decent grades). Only a couple of classes are limited to engineering students. You can get around this by taking those classes at the CC in Blacksburg. You are not behind when you transfer. It’s a pain, but very doable.

Search the VT forum. A lot has been written about this. A frequent poster with excellent information is ‘chuy’.

Good luck.
