I really can't decide between Purdue University and Virginia Tech. I am going for engineering and loved both schools. At Purdue I would be doing an Engineering program in the college of agriculture but would try and transfer into a different program that I prefer much more in the college of engineering. At VT I am straight in Engineering, there are no conflicts. OOS for both. Purdue is slightly more expensive but so minimal it is not much of a difference.
I feel I would find more academic success at Virginia Tech and would have the security of definitely being in the program I want to be in, but I would receive a better education from Purdue.
I really have no idea how I am going to choose by May 1.

That’s a hard choice, I personally would suggest taking a look at the campuses and seeing what you like better. There are great things about both schools. From the friends who I have who have gone to Purdue, they have said it was an amazing education and also a good place to have fun. I definitely agree that you would receive a better education at Purdue, especially because it’s so highly looked upon. (But to be fair, VT is a great school as well!)

Also, would being in a small town bother you? From what I understand many students have difficulty with VT’s small college town. And apparently traffic during home games sucks for both campuses!

I have been to both and the campuses are very very similar. Both are large schools in small towns that are definitely stereotypical college towns. Virginia Tech has smaller and quite hot dorms while Purdue doesn’t have the same quality of food as Tech.
