Computer Science Stuff

I know there are quite a lot of computer science people on here.

What's a good way to start learning computer science and programming related stuff. Right now I can code in html and can work with css/php, although I just modify codes in websites in those, and haven't built anything from scratch, and wouldn't know where to start.

I would like to focus on making some web app type stuff, and stuff for the web that pulls information from a database and then can be played with interactively. I have the ideas for good web apps, but don't have the knowledge to execute them right now. Anyone know a good place to start to learn solid fundamentals in coding and then how to keep moving forward with it.

And this involves not taking any college courses, but learning it on my own. I'm almost done with college, and I'm not adding on too many more credits.

Buy a book. Start learning a curly-bracket language, like Java, C++, or C#. The syntax is similar, so you can switch between languages more easily when needed.

If you don’t understand a concept, you can always ask people on the Internet or watch some Youtube videos.

Personally, I didn’t find self-teaching to be all that useful at all - some of the more higher level concepts required someone to explain them to me in-person. I am currently taking a Computer Science class to brush up on my skills and then some.

Your mileage may vary.
