Computer Science vs Nursing Major

Which one is better for me?

Since we aren’t you, nobody here will know which is better for you. Maybe if you give more details about what you’re looking for? Why did you pick those two fields?

I am looking for which program is the better for me since I want a description of it. I picked those two fields because for computer science, I am really into it and want to go to college for it. For nursing, my mom suggest me to go into because nurses get higher pay and the job is stable later in life.

Nursing is not the sort of field you go into unless you are really into it. There’s a lot of gross stuff in nursing. Why do you think nurses get higher pay than computer science? I do not think this is true at all.

Well nurses have a stable job in hospital and get higher pay than computer science since computer science require a lot of change while nursing doesn’t. There are always a nurse at a hospital so the job is easier to keep up with. I really don’t know if this is true but this is an educated guess.

Last time I checked a bunch of the billionaires and multi-millionaire CEOs in the country have a background in computer science, not nursing.

If you want to know about these careers, search for information online. The internet is full of more information about these careers than you can find out on CC. You can also look up actual data on graduates and employment in these two fields.

I recommend that you take some career aptitude and interest tests to better know where your strengths are and what suits your personality. You can find such tests online.

I definitely recommend taking multiple career aptitude tests! Those helped me tremendously when I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. Computer science and nursing are complete opposites, so the results from the tests should help. They’re free on the internet, so try!

Also, I recommend watching youtube videos about both careers. There are lots of nursing students/nurses who share their experiences on youtube, and I’d imagine there are computer scientists on there as well. Hearing personal stories can really help because you get to hear what their classes and jobs are like. You can check out documentaries on nursing too if you want. I remember I found this random series about nurses in Australia or something, and it helped me understand the job of nurses more since I hadn’t been in hospitals before.

By the way, computer scientists make more money than nurses. But this decision shouldn’t only be about the money. You really have to be passionate about your major in order to do well in school and be happy after graduating.
