How is this undergraduate program at BU? How does it compare to other computer science programs in the area such as Northeastern, BC, etc. How are the internship and job opportunities for students who have this BA degree? I visited BU and really love the campus and the city of Boston

I’m doing computer science at BU if I get in december. It’s better than BC and Northeastern. obv the better CS programs are at umich, ut austin, ucla, etc, but BU is not bad

The CS program at BU is pretty good ^. But, like most programs, it really depends on your work and how much you are willing to learn. I know many people who go to BU with me in the CS program and have worked on the YouTube team at Google and work with Microsoft. So, if your goal is to work with a great company, it is definitely plausible and you will learn a great deal.

Depends on what you are looking for.

BU in general really really cares about its reputation as a research university, and this is reflected in the undergrad curriculum for most majors, especially those in CAS.

What you can take this to mean is that you are going to have to learn a lot of material that is very academic in nature, and that the primary goal of your professors is to make damn well sure you have some idea of what the discipline is about.

That means you will spend some substantial amount of time learning material that you will hate if your main reason for going to college is to get out and into an office job as quickly as possible.

BU is in my opinion a better choice than BC/NEU if you really like what you’re studying and don’t mind having your curriculum include material that might only be useful if you go to grad school, cause that stuff is cool.

And obviously job/internship prospects for CS are very very good, you shouldn’t have trouble as long as you know how to conduct yourself in an interview and whatnot.
