Computer viruses: Have you ever had one?

How did you get it? Was it easy to fix?

Can you get viruses off of just video sites like YouTube, or do you have to download something? I accidentally clicked on some advertisement and a video started playing. Norton says I have no viruses or spyware, but I wonder if it's right. It always says that.

not very experienced with computers, eh? :b

based on the info you give me and assuming you JUST clicked on the “thing”, you probably do not have a virus

If Norton Computer Slower says that you don’t have a virus, it’s probably right, assuming that it’s been updated recently. I don’t think you need to worry unless you notice that your programs don’t work or whatever.

about 1 a month. Those pr0n sites are so tempting!

(jk) but I do always get viruses… don’t know from where though, but I don’t have anti-virus software/firewall etc. so… yeah.

i haven’t gotten a virus in years…and i have a windows pc

you cant get it from youtube…

you can pretty much only get a virus surfing the web if you make a mistake and download something yourself or click a malicious link

While we’re on the subject, I’ve always wondered something. Who profits from computer viruses? Is it really in the programmer’s best interest to conjure up something like that?

No, I use a Mac.

hehehe.

people with no life

People who create firewalls and anti-virus programs.

without viruses, they would go bankrupt, so they create it themselves.

why do people create viruses?

 1. people think it’s fun
 2. to make money

it’s that simple

IT security industry people create them to/as reverse engineer(ing), fight bad viruses, etc…

I suppose. It’s probably a bit how Listerine not only created mouthwash, but also halitosis.

Haven’t had one in 5 years and I don’t use an anti-virus software. Just know what you’re doing.
