when should we buy a computer? Also, I don't know what type to get. I'm definitely getting a pc, so not a mac, and the NU website has a link to dell with pre-configured laptops. Anyone know anything about these? I'm probably going to either go with the E6400 or E4300 that they suggest for WCAS, but I really don't know the difference between the two. Suggestions?

Also do a lot of people use laptop locks?

I was also wondering about this. What kind of laptop would you recommend for NU? Does NU recommend any laptops?

It’s all right if WCAS students buy Macs, right?

You can use either a PC or Mac. Most students bring laptops.

I had a 15" and 17" PC laptop when I was in school. Look at these guidelines:

randon question…does anyone know if there is a way to stream radio onto your mac at northwestern?

dabulls: you looked at pandora.com? there are also a couple other websites like it.

WCAS can pretty much get whatever you want. If you think you’re popular and want to look cool, you should probably get a mac. If you have some sense and actually want to use your computer to do stuff, get a PC. Also if you’re not rich or don’t care about computers very much, get a PC.

MEAS, while some students pull off not having a PC, I trully believe that with some of the programs we use down the line, especially if youre a computing related major, you shouldn’t even have a MAC in mind right now. PCs are much better for brute force calculations.

If you’re in the arts related, it’s probably okay if you get a mac. Journalism, I think that there are some guidelines for what you need, because you run a bunch of hardcore Adobe programs that I don’t think Macs handle all to smoothly. So I would strongly suggest having a look at those rules.

Everyone else just get what you think is best for you.
