Is there any reason not to get a mac laptop for NU this fall?

I should mention this is for the Weinberg College of Arts and Science majoring in biology. If you have a better recommendation please let me know.

macs are great computers, i would definitely recommend it. the only real reason to Not get a mac is cost... theyre slightly more expensive, but if thats not an issue, definitely go with a mac.

I have a Mac. I know tons of people with Macs. I haven't encountered any problems in the year I've been at NU with compatibility etc.

Only thing is that if you're used to using Windows computers you will be very frustrated initially because you can't do things the same way in OSX as in Windows.

You will likely have problems with a macintosh laptop.

1) You will have to find something to do with the extra time from not having to clean your system of windows based spyware and virus infections;

2) You will have to find a place to spend the money you save not buying anti-virus software programs;

3) You will probably be out drinking instead of in your dorm, reloading a service patch, or waiting for Longhorn to be released.

4) You will not experience that special feeling of having made Mr. Gates richer.

Macs still get viruses, have service patches (plus at NU we can download at a billion KB/s anyways), and Mr. Jobs is pretty rich too ;)

LOL, the end of the world must truly be near when a mac user speaks of saving money.

I just got a 15 inch G4 Powerbook. I've never dealt with Macs before, but I really like it. Hopefully it'll serve me well at NU.
