Concern over tone in essays I sent

As I re-read my essays. I'm beginning to feel concerned that I sound conceited in my phrasing in the essays I sent in as part of my EA application.

For example, I write that "My first ventures into ______ told me that I was an urban dawdler at heart. I much prefer the busy, exciting streets of ______ to my quiet suburban home town," which makes it sound like I don't appreciate my home.

Second, I write that "Even in an activity as ordinary as reading some kid's college essay, surprises lie in the wait," which to me sounds like I am belittling admission's job.

Third, I say that "I don't consider my connection to my dad to be unlucky anymore; rather, his resolution has opened my world to a time unknown to most of my classmates," which makes me sound arrogant in that I think I'm special over my classmates.

Am I right, in my incredibly poor taste, that I sound arrogant here? Or am I being paranoid? Thanks, all.

I think you are being paranoid. None of these stick out as distasteful to me.

i agree with jacobjay. what’d done is done, don’t worry about it!
