I go to a really hard HS (top 75 in country according to newsweek I think)
we had a bunch of sucidies and stuff here anyway THE POINT IS:

i'm in a really hard chem honors class, i'm a sophomore

i'm getting a B, never had a B in any class before, A- is the lowest i've ever had

I'm pretty surprised, but the class is just really hard, the teacher grades hard and all, or maybe just doesn't like me. I don't feel like I'm doing badly but I just performed bad on the test which has high weighting in grades (I got a 85 on the first one and 82 on the next quiz) so I have a B.

I heard stuff that it MIGHT be weighted or not, no one seems to know

I'm wondering what to do... will colleges not like me because of this??

It’s only one class. You’ll be fine. Get the best grade you can.

thanks, but sorry I actually forgot to mention

i really want to go to med school, premed major at least

however I’m not sure if chem is a big part of that

I LOVE Chem, I’m just not as naturally good at is as say, bio, which I adore. if I want to do medicine, will having a B in chem and then stating I’m interested in sciences, which I am, i’m just not that great in chem as others, affect me?

Chemistry is definitely an important class to have under your belt, but it shouldnt negatively affect your chances of getting into a good pre-med program. A B in chem may not get you Johns Hopkins, but you will still have plenty of quality acceptances.

College-level chem and orgo will weed you out if you arent serious about pursuing med school.

No worries yet. Keep working hard.

i’m serious about med school and I like chem, it’s just I can’t perform with this teacher

he has really high expectations, like memorizing stuff and knowing stuff that’s not covered in class, like we need to learn in class and then do more studying outside, rather than learning in class and then reviewing that with homework

it’s just a hard class, and darn, I really like johns hopkins (I’m in their talent program thing)
