Concerning Hot Girls and Oberlin...

This may seem like a shallow question, but my sanity over the next 4 years depends on this.... Are there many hot girls at Oberlin? I've fallen in love with the school, but I've been thinking about the kinds of people it attracts and I'm afraid that there won't be many hot girls. On the other hand, my other top choice is Occidental, which has it's share of athletic young women with healthy exposure to sunlight and a habit of exercise. Plus it's in LA. So, while I like the actual school itself better at Oberlin, I feel a bit nervous about the condition of its female population, so to speak. At Oxy, I have no worries. I'll probably visit anyways, but I was hoping I could get an honest answer here. Thanks.

Hmmm...if you're really serious (I'm hoping not) you should definitely go to Occidental. The people at Oberlin are not very shallow and probably don't place much importance on things like "looks," so I fear you may feel out of place. It's a great school, and will hopefully develop your mind, should you choose to go there.

Heh, at the risk of being very shallow, that's exactly the situation I face. Oberlin is easily the best school I've gotten into, but I'm worried about the social life. But, my cousin did go there and he's normal, so who knows. Someone appease my fears, I really want to go there.

bayarea, once again, we find ourselves pondering teh same question.

Since when is beauty shallow? I dont think he asked "wheres the titties!" that would be shallow. acknowledging that college students like to have a lot of sex is something we all need to do, so lighten up. Furthermore, we like to have sex with girls who have shaved legs and toned bodies. These are facts of life.

As for your question, bayarea, I can only hope that soon an obie will come by to answer.

Um, I'm not a student but I live nearby and all I have to say is go after conservatory girls (esp voice majors) and asian girls. They're the ones who keep up their appearance the most.

lol. i'm on the waitlist and am a potential obie, but i can tell you that i'm reasonably normal, i exercise, and i (admittedly) do care about my appearance, to a certain extent.

...then again, although i'm not a conservatory gal, i am an opera singer. just sayin'. (as if that even mattered)

hmm, you guys are so concerned about girls' appearances, but i'd like to point out that i am sure there are girls at oberlin worried over the fact that there won't be any attractive, straight guys there. so it's an issue for both guys and girls.

Where are you from? Have you been to LA - does smog, traffic, and strip malls sound fun to you? I'm a california girl and the quality of the girl is not measured in her looks. Go for quality of personality, humor, wit, etc. and someone who is pretty. Dont go to the college for the shallow girls with nice clothes. And if your not the male version of a slut, you only need a few girlfriends anyway, so your bound to find a few pretty ones at Oberlin.

haha lac operon, i like your username.

elusivestranger, do you know what it means? did you take biology or genetics?

Once I saw the user name, I remembered studying about LAC operons during my freshman year Biology class; Biology, by far, is one of my favorite subjects.

haha yes i do know what it means. i took ap bio last year, so i remember it. i loved bio and genetics was one of my most favorite parts we studied.

huh thats interesting bout the hot girls situation because i was thinking the same thing but bout the hot guys....but i just figured that the guys at oberlin must be way better than the guys at other schools (cuz they chose oberlin over other...say more shallow schools they could have gotten into....) so the weeding process is already done for...and therefore there MUST be at least A FEW somewhat attractive guys there....and bout the whole attractive girls thing....well for the athletic department i can tell you they boosted up the recruiting process and therefore got some pretty good players who arent tree huging men....id also like to add that i know a few girls coming and myself who are....well not bad looking-just typical california girl (minus the airhead and plus the brains)......lemme reassure you....we california girls are coming your way.....

It totally depends what type you're into. They're aren't a lot of Oberlin women who come to class every morning in full makeup and blow-dried hair. If you're into low-maintenance intellectuals or crunchy granola women, there are some attractive examples of the genre at Oberlin. Picture Liz Phair circa 1993, or maybe Agent Scully. If your idea of attractive is a Jessica Simpson type, you're going to be lonely at Oberlin.

I want to plant my seed in Agent Scully!

wait, so i am a girl, and i don't shave. ever. i sincerely hope that i wont alone. i mean, i did decide to go to oberlin in part because i thought i would feel less alienated and such.

That's disgusting.

Gentlemen: Please post schlong size in inches. I'm vacillating between Oberlin and Occidental but word on the street is that Obie men are egregiously unendowed. I'm conducting a comparative survey so I can make a definitive decision about where I will matriculate next year. We toned, shaven, sunkissed babes prefer chiseled paragons of male virility.

Metric or English? In Scientific Notation? I'm not going to do math for a troll....
